Telecom Operator Optical Network Applications: Optical Modules for 5G, OTN, FTTH & Data Centers
Introduction
According to the market demand of telecom operators and the characteristics of optical communication technology, several typical optical communication network applications of operators are as follows: 5G mobile network, metro transmission network, optical access network and data center network. 1. Optical Module Application in 5G Mobile Network
The DU part of the AAU connection in the 5G mobile network is called 5G Front-haul. The main optical modules used in this field are 25G SFP28 1.4km 500m 100m optical modules.
The part of the DU connecting the CU is called Middle-haul. The optical module mainly used is the 50G QSFP28 BiDi 10km 40km optical module.
The communication network between the CU and the core network is called Back-haul. The optical modules mainly used in this project are 100G QSFP28 10km 40km 80km 100km optical modules.
2. Application of Optical Module in Optical Transport Network (OTN)
Widely used DWDM/CWDM network architectures in OTN networks are optically-multiplied DWDM/CWDM optical modules and MUX DeMUX OADM. There are a large number of application requirements. Currently 400G/100G 300km/500km Coherent DWDM Optical Modules and 25G 10G Multiply Optical Dispersion Compensator (DCM) 96-wave 40km/80km tunable and fixed wavelength SFP XFP optical modules are widely used. This series of optical modules have multi-rate universal quality and support both Ethernet and OUT series protocols.

3. Application of Optical Module in Optical Access Network
