The basic functions and working principle of the DWDM optical transceiver are the same as other optical transceiver, which convert electrical signals into optical signals and then convert the optical signals into electrical signals. The DWDM module adopts dense wavelength division multiplexing technology that uses the wavelength of the laser to transmit data within the fiber in parallel or bit string transmission. It has 40 common channels to choose from.

Types of DWDM optical modules
The DWDM optical transceiver modules on the market usually include: DWDM SFP, DWDM SFP+, DWDM XFP, DWDM X2, and DWDM XENPAK .

Advantages of DWDM optical transceiver
1. "Transparent" transmission of data;
2, large capacity, make full use of the huge bandwidth resources of fiber;
3. Significantly save fiber resources and reduce construction costs;
4. High networking flexibility, economy and reliability;
5, realized all-optical network switching and  long-distance non-electrical relay transmission;
6. Simplified laser module, which reduces the size of the equipment and saves space in the machine room;
7. The optical layer recovery is independent of the service and rate, and the data can be effectively protected;
8, no need for semiconductor cooler and temperature control function, so can significantly reduce power consumption.

Application of DWDM transceiver
1.Be Used for amplified DWDM networks, Fibre Channel, fixed and reconfigurable OADM ring network topologies, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and other optical transmission systems.
2. Complied with the 10GBASE-ZR/ZW standard and could be used for 10G optical cable.
3. DWDM XFP modules, DWDM X2 modules, and DWDM XENPAK modules are commonly used in applications such as 10G Ethernet, 10G Fibre Channel, SONET (Synchronous Optical Network), and SDH (Optical Transmission Equipment).
4. In addition, these DWDM modules can also be used for switch-to-switch interfaces, switch backplane applications, and router/server interfaces.
