At present, from the perspective of the distribution of global data centers, the number of global data centers in 2020 covers the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa and other regions, of which North America accounts for 44.5%, South America accounts for 2.2%, and Asia Pacific accounts for 37.0%. Western Europe accounted for 12.9%, Eastern Europe accounted for 3.0%, and Middle East and Africa accounted for 0.4%.

From the perspective of the distribution of global hyperscale data centers, by the end of 2020, the total number of hyperscale data centers operated by hyperscale providers increased to 597, more than doubling from the end of 2015. Among them, the United States accounted for 39% of the total number of hyperscale data centers in the world. China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and Australia together account for about 29%, and companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Facebook are the main owners of super-large data centers.

Analysis of key regions

1. North America

North America occupies half of the data center market and is the first region in the global data center distribution. At present, the Americas region mainly focuses on the US market, mainly in Northern Virginia, Dallas, Silicon Valley, Chicago, Phoenix, New York, Atlanta and other cities.

2. Asia Pacific

For the Hong Kong market, due to its mature and advanced telecommunications infrastructure, stable natural climate and geographical environment, reliable and stable power supply, perfect submarine cable network, and convenience of data in and out of mainland China, Hong Kong has become the largest data center in Asia. One of the central markets. At the same time, Hong Kong is not only a financial, international trade and logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific region, but also a gathering place for the headquarters or regional offices of many institutions around the world. Nearly 70% of the world's top 100 banks, financial institutions, and large-scale well-known enterprises have their headquarters in Hong Kong. Therefore, cloud computing, banking, and financial services are the leading industries, and multimedia, Internet, and information technology are the auxiliary industries. , together to promote the continuous growth of Hong Kong's data center market.

For the Singapore market, driven by factors such as the deployment of mainstream cloud providers' availability zones, the demand of China's ultra-large cloud customers, and the continued attention of European and American operators to Singapore, the growth momentum of Singapore's market demand is sufficient. 

For the Japanese market, as a country with a world-leading digital infrastructure construction, the local digital industries such as integrated circuits, robots, and numerical control equipment are developing rapidly, and the demand for data storage continues to grow, promoting the sustainable development of the Japanese data center industry.

3. European Region

For the Dutch market, due to its open and free cultural background, unique geographical location and excellent network resources, the Netherlands has attracted companies from all over the world to invest and join, and has become one of the two major data center hotspots in Europe, with many multinational companies and hundreds of commercial data center. 

For the German market, as the second largest data center hosting market in Europe, the German data center market is relatively concentrated, with about 90% of data centers distributed in Frankfurt.
